Today is an important day for football fans everywhere, and especially for Green Bay Packer fans! Fifty Years ago today, January 15, 1967, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in what would become known as Super Bowl I.
The Packers have a history longer than 50 years, but fans everywhere can agree that the very first Super Bowl in 1967 started a momentum in professional football that helped build “America’s Game.” The lens of history shows us how important that date was for the National Football League we know and love today.
Back in 1967, as the first proposals and projects were created for Derrick Companies, momentum was also beginning for a little company in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Through hard work, integrity, and a dedication to a job well done, our founders Bill Sr. and Mary Ann Derrick grew a company and created a legacy with many of the same characteristics as the storied Green Bay Packers organization. Their leadership, not unlike Vince Lombardi’s, helped build a firm foundation from which Derrick Companies has grown to become a leading custom home builder, real estate developer, and successful commercial contracting company.
Hats off to the Packers as they celebrate the golden anniversary of the first Super Bowl win, and hats off to our founders for their foresight 50 years ago.
