The Oral Surgery Center

The Oral Surgery Center of New Richmond is part of a five-office practice offering oral and maxillofacial surgery services in Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota. With an office on the south side of New Richmond for more than 20 years, the doctors decided that it was time to expand the New Richmond office in order to provide better access to care. After looking at existing spaces for lease and considering all options, they partnered with New Richmond Kidds Pediatric Dentistry to construct a new facility on the west side of New Richmond and include lease space for other professional office operations.

While The Oral Surgery Center has experienced many remodeling and interior construction projects during their history at their various locations, this was to be the first completely new build for the current partners. After developing plans and settling on a location, they chose to work with Derrick Building Solutions. “My sister is a partner in New Richmond Kidds Pediatric Dentistry, and as area natives, she and I are both familiar with Derrick Building Solutions longstanding reputation for quality. The core values of our companies align with those of Derrick Companies, and we knew it would be a great fit,” said Dr. Regan F. Brown, DDS, one of The Oral Surgery Center’s partners.

Construction started late in 2019 and was just picking up speed when the Covid 19 pandemic struck and restrictions on businesses began. During the quarantine, all dental practices in the state adjusted their services to emergency-only. Dr. Brown said, “With the uncertainty of that time period, Derrick Building Solutions was very flexible in working with us and adjusted the schedule to accommodate the needs of the situation.”

Melissa Olson, The Oral Surgery Center’s practice manager, was the internal point person for the project. She said, “Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We built an 11,000 sf building at the start of the pandemic with the bulk of the communication via email and telephone. Casey and Kevin were responsive and proactive. I received weekly email progress reports, including photos, and regular check-ins. Communication was particularly important for our project because Derrick had to coordinate with two different tenant contractors. Kevin regularly went the extra mile, and even now, when I have a question, he is a go-to resource. By the end of the project, I felt like we had developed a friendship. I also appreciate that Derrick works with a lot of local subs. It felt great to partner with people from the area and it was fun to hear their enthusiasm over having our dental practices in a cool building on this side of town.”

The new 11,000 sq. ft. facility includes The Oral Surgery Center’s New Richmond Office, New Richmond Kidds Pediatric Dentistry, and 1,898 sq. ft. of professional office space for lease.

New Richmond Kidds Pediatric Dentistry

When the opportunity presented itself to partner on a new build with The Oral Surgery Center and her brother, Dr. Kinder was excited. She and her business partner, Dr. Rindelaub, were searching for a location to open their fourth pediatric dental practice.  With clinics in Blaine and Coon Rapids, Minnesota and Hudson, Wisconsin, what better opportunity than to bring their pediatric business to Dr. Kinder’s hometown of New Richmond, Wisconsin.

Drs. Kinder and Rindelaub are well respected and adored by their young patients. In addition to providing a personal and positive dental experience for each and every family, the doctors and their teams are known for their leading-edge skills in pediatric dentistry. Their desire to make children’s early dental experiences positive and ensure a lifelong commitment to dental health are apparent in every facet of their New Richmond Kidds Pediatric Dentistry clinic.  When arriving at the clinic, children and their families are greeted with a warm welcome and immediately spy the western themed decor and child centered atmosphere. Patients are directed to follow the animal footprints located on the floor and guided into animal themed rooms with inviting bright walls and clever animal photos. From start to finish the clinic, doctors and staff are focused on providing a fun, and positive dental experience.

In order to help realize their goals of bringing their child-centered pediatric clinic to their new location, the doctors needed a topnotch building team. With both doctors focusing their attention on providing excellent dentistry and limited time to be onsite, having a builder with a strong reputation and history of quality work gave them the assurance and trust they needed.  Building a new dental practice during the pandemic could have been an extraordinarily difficult task, however Derrick Building Solutions was dependable and clear in their communication and kept the project moving forward. Dr. Kinder said, “Their team-oriented work ethic and can-do attitude carried us through the project. We are proud of our new location, and the opportunity to be a part of our hometown community”.
